"LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF"
For years, our church stepped in to help our community, when called - irrespective of the religious, ethnical or cultural background of our neighbours in need.
We stepped in to feed the homeless of St James park in San Jose, and the streets of San Francisco.
The ladies’ reunion brough food and toys, on several occasions, to Larry's Workers house in Redwood City.
We helped elders from our town who could not pay their moving expenses (and helped them move). The parishioners helped a Vietnamese mom and her children who came each Sunday, at the end of our services, to ask for money and food for her family.
In fall 2019, we provided funds for rent, food and utilities to a Latino family of five, from San Jose, who unjustly lost their social security and faced eviction, thus homelessness.
In may, 2020, we helped a father of eight, who lost his sight, thus his ability to provide for his family. We ask for nothing in return - but we are showered with their gratitude!
The pandemic hit extremely hard the homeless communities everywhere. So our church did its best to keep supporting the homeless people of San Jose and Redwood City through these hard times. However, it is extremely hard for us to help without a dining room and food storage capacity.
“He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. 'For the foundations of the earth are the Lord's; on them he has set the world. '” 1 Samuel 2:8.
